Tell us about your job...
Well, I am currently employed at two different jobs, both of which I have mentioned before, but I'll recap for those of you who may not know. If it bores you, I do not apologize. ;) Lol.
First Job. I work as a Team Leader Server at Winger's Bar and Grill. What does that mean? Basically, I'm the Shiz. Haha. Just kidding. Team Leader's are basically the conduit between all the employees and the management. I still serve on the floor, but am responsible for checking off peoples side work and sections (making sure they are nice and clean etc.) at the end of the night. I also run discounts for all the servers, combine tickets, and pick up the slack when people aren't doing their fair share. Sometimes I get to be everyone's best friend and sometimes I'm sure alot of people hate me (but that's leadership for ya! Haha.). I do enjoy it for the most part though. I'm such a people person that I love just being around people all the time. Because of school and my other job I usually only work Thursday and Saturday nights, but pick up extra serving shifts and a random hosting shift every once in a while. Now that I'm 21 I've even been trained on some of the bar stuff...which frightens me...haha.
Second job. I also work as an Office Assistant in the Division of Science office at the JC I attend. Remember those administrative changes that I mentioned a few posts back? Yeah, as it turns out, there has been PLENTY for me to do, so I'm not sure what me or my boss (who is Administrative Assistant to the Dean (or AVC)) were worried about. Basically they split the Division of Arts and Sciences into the Division of Science and the Division of Liberal Arts, and changed the title of the head of each division from "Dean" to "Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC)". In a nutshell? One of those stupid changes that doesn't really matter, because I still do everything I used to do for both Divisions except now I have to worry about a second AVC whose office is now across campus. Anyway, back to what it is I do. I'm responsible for tracking syllabi (making sure they have the appropriate course descriptions and objectives from the JC catalog, basically bookkeeping stuff), facilitating and administering faculty evaluations (where students rate their professors and the courses they are taking), track budget information for the Division(s), and whatever other random stuff might pop up. (And with the administrative restructuring of the JC, A LOT of stuff pops up. Lol.) I have honestly LOVED this job. It's one of those jobs that will be such a great addition to a resume, working directly with a college dean and such. I love the people I work for, and for the most part the faculty I work with. I have really enjoyed working in an administrative setting, and have realized that I wouldn't mind working in administration as a potential career.
Between the two jobs I work about 30 hours a week, which keeps me hoppin, but also keeps the money flowin! ;) Haha. Which helps when you just bought a new car!! :D I'll have to post pics later, but let's just say I love it. :) It has leather seats, a moonroof, seat warmers, and everything I could have ever wanted in a car.
