...Why I Blog...

" You will have significant experiences. I hope you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences."

Photo Phun

I don't have much schooling, but I have absolutely fallen in love with photography and the editing of it.  Here is my latest edit, I stole my friends profile pic from ye ole' facebook, and I LOVE how it turned out.  Comments appreciated...lol.

Well, the parentals went to the city today (just to Provo I think, but who knows...haha), and so today I've been playing the role of "homemaker".  Literally.  I've done like 6 loads of laundry, cleaned the bathroom, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned my room (why ruin a cleaning streak!?  Haha.), and it's about time to go pick up the little kids from school and I haven't even decided what to make for dinner yet!  Haha.  I'm sounding like my mother...oi vei!  At least I get to leave them with Nanny (that's what we call my grandma.  :) ) when I have to go to work at 6.

Last night was spent watching a movie with my Fa'ah the beast in our private lounge...haha.  ;)  It was fun, and I really enjoyed spending some time with her.

I was reading the NieNie Dialogues just now, and I tell you people, if you EVER need a spiritual lift, check this site out!  Her post today talked about how everyone, even our worst enemies have the Light of Christ within them, even if it has been dimmed by a life of pain and misery.  I need to remember that the next time I go to judge someone...  I am truly loving life!

                  Happy Monday!

Has it really been a week since I last posted???  Wow, I guess that's what happens when life is BUSY!  I'm seriously sitting here thinking about what to write and it seems like everything that has happened recently is one MASSIVE blur...Haha. In short, my days have been spent working with my dad, and most of my nights have been spent working at the wingy (a.k.a. "Winger's" (have I mentioned that is the place of my employment?  Well, anyway I'm a server there, and actually enjoy it...sometimes...lol).  We're basically finished with the renovations at my Uncle's restaurant and can now begin full force work on the house.  There is now a covered and uncovered patio (complete with massive flag pole that requires only two words of description: oi vei!), and horseshoe pits (that required installation of a sprinkling system and laying sod...lame...).  Hopefully it will really help business for them down there.
.
Ever since my last blog post that probably made me sound like a manic depressive to most of you (sorry about that by the way...) I've tried really hard to have a more positive outlook on life, and I can honestly say that I am really doing much, much better.  I actually went to church today because I wanted to and not because my mother guilted me into it, and that, my friends, is a huge step!  Haha.  Thank you all for your words of encouragement and friendship; you really make life a whole lot easier and much more of a joy to tackle.  I can do it, and I will.

I caused a bit of facebook drama this week...oops.  Haha.  I had logged on to the blog to check on the progress of some friends' poor hurt dog, and noticed that I had one less follower than I had the day before.  I was just curious, and eventually realized it was my ex.  When the relationship ended, although I had my reasons to not want to be with her anymore, for the most part everything was okay, and we've even talked a bit since the "break-up".  So I logged on facebook and was going to teasingly leave a post on her wall about it, but oops, she BLOCKED ME!  Haha!  I really thought it was funny, so immediately posted the following status:
"So, it's a weird feeling to realize your ex has blocked you on facebook and stopped following your blog...but even more weird of a feeling to realize YOU DON'T CARE! Haha! :)"
And it's true, I realized at that moment that while curious about the reason she felt the need to shut me out from her life I wasn't offended, nor did I wish to fix the problem.  I don't mean for that to sound heartless, but only to mean that it was the final confirmation that I had made the right choice in wanting to end the relationship.  I'm happier now, and I have a better sense of self-worth, and in my book, if you don't have that, what else matters?  Life is really interesting how it turns out sometimes...

By far the best part of my week was the end of year choir concert at my old high school.  Call me lame, but I have made it to both of these end of year things since I graduated myself, because the Vocal Jazz traditionally sings an awesome arrangement of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and invites all alumni of the group to come on stage and sing it also.  First of all I love this because I love my high school choir teacher; he is one of the most amazing individuals who is always there for his students, and I feel like singing this song is just a little "thank-you" to him every year.  He is truly amazing.  (I've been given the assignment more than once by him to organize an Alum Choir to sing this song at his funeral.)  Secondly, this song just has an amazing message of friendship and the power that it can invoke.  I love it.  It was a good reminder about how important the people we let into our lives are.  After the concert I went to dinner with four of my best friends ever, and it was great to rekindle old friendships, and relive the memories.  Two of my other best friends were out of town most of the week, and I missed them terribly.  I also owe one of them a sincere apology for doubting their loyalties...I'm sorry, and I love you.

This week is looking like it will be just as hectic as last...I work everyday except for Thursday when I'm planning to go up to Salt Lake for a day trip with some friends to see a movie (hopefully Letters to Juliet...haha) and go to a good friends wedding reception.  Good luck to you Carly and Chace!  I'll try to get at least one mid-week blog in though...

Exactly what I needed.

So lately, every night it seems, almost as soon as it gets dark, I have the craziest desire to curl up on the couch with a blanket and watch a movie, and I don't know why!!  Even if I've worked that night (which has been quite frequent lately since I've picked up way more shifts now that school is out) I get home and can't go right to sleep because I'm too wound up, so I just want to watch a movie.  I've tried to curb these desires in an effort to maintain some sort of ability to accomplish something with my life, but it kind of has become a losing battle...Haha.  I've actually had quite the time reliving some childhood favorites like Dennis the Menace and Mrs. Doubtfire (I never realized how dirty it is!  Haha.), a ton of Disney (random guilty pleasure), way too many musicals (including Phantom, Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, The Sound of Music, The Music Man, Mamma Mia!, and many many others...), and my all time favorites Australia, and The Man From Snowy River (both set in Australia...weird...haha).

Anyway, there is another movie on the list of recent watches, Forever Strong.  I can't even describe to you the effect this movie has had on me for the better.  Lately I've been struggling a little with church and stuff, and by a little unfortunately I mean a lot...  As many of you know, I've had a serious blow to my self-esteem and morale in the past year, and for about six to nine months I just tried to ignore it, and never dealt with the issue, and it eventually caught up with me, and I fell, really hard.  Luckily for me, no matter how much I have wanted to (and believe me, I have wanted to and unfortunately seriously considered doing so) just forget about the Church and just start a new life as just me, just Kelton, I cannot deny the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I know that He died for me and that no matter what He love me, yes ME!  That testimony has not left me, and I don't think it ever will, and because of that I cannot deny the Church of which I have a sure testimony that He is the Head.  I recently met with my Bishop, and just spilled my guts.  I told him everything I have been feeling recently, and just totally laid it out on the table, which was odd for me, because I've always been the good kid who never had anything to discuss with the bishop.  Other than the yearly interview and the occasional conversation, I've never talked with the Bishop like this before, and I had no idea the power that could come from it.  It was such a weight off of my shoulders to admit and want to fix the pain I've been feeling for a year now.  The power of the Atonement is REAL people!!  So totally amazing.  I just love my Bishop.  He gave me the most wonderful blessing ever, and the best counsel I have ever heard.

So, to get back on track with the original thread of this post...(I have actually been avoiding blogging lately because I knew what my outlook on life was, and deep down it isn't who I want to be, so I just never bothered to blog...kind of weird I know...haha) Forever Strong just made me cry, and re-realize the power of Christ in my life as my Savior.  It has made me want to be a better person, and to change the things about me that make me unhappy.  I am going to go on a mission.  Someday, somehow, I will be there.  It's not going to be easy, but it will be so worth it, and I know it's what I want to do.  It's weird, but I'm finally loving life again!

 :)

Happy Mothers Day :)

To all of you who are blessed with the choice calling of mom, Happy Mother's Day!

Although I don't always show my appreciation, I truly have the best mom in the entire world who I love with all of my heart.  She is AMAZING!  :)  She has always been my number one fan, and has always made sure I succeed in whatever I desire to accomplish.  Thanks for everything mom, I love you.

It takes a lot to know what is love
It's not the big things, but the little things
That can mean enough
A lot of prayers to get me through
And there is never a day that passes by
I don't think of you
You were always there for me
Pushing me and guiding me
Always to succeed

You showed me
When I was young just how to grow
You showed me
Everything that I should know
You showed me
Just how to walk without your hands
'Cause mom you always were
The perfect fan

God has been so good (ohh)

Blessing me with a family
Who did all they could (ohhh)
And I've had many years of grace
And it flatters me when I see the smile on your face
I wanna thank you for what you've done
In hopes I can give back to you
And be the perfect son

You showed me
When I was young just how to grow
You showed me
Everything that I should know
You showed me
Just how to walk without your hands
'Cause mom yo always were
The perfect fan

You showed me how to love (you showed me how to love)
You showed me how to care (showed me how to care)
And you showed me that you would
Always be there (always be there)
I wanna thank you for that time
And I'm proud to say you're mine

You showed me (you showed me)
When I was young just how to grow
You showed me
Everything that I should know
You showed me
Just how to walk without your hands
'Cause mom you always were
The perfect fan

'Cause mom you always were

Mom you always were
mom you always were
You know you always were
'Cause mom you always were
The perfect fan

I love you mom!

What does Tuesday mean!?

What does Tuesday mean you ask?

gLee!  :)  I'm slightly obsessed....oh well.  Haha.

In other news, my parents are building a new house, and today was the first "official" day of work on it.  Not going to lie, I'm pretty dang excited!

The first load of lumber and goods to begin work.

This is where it will be, right across the street from our current house.

The loan is approved, blueprints in hand, and it appears the Wells Family is out on a new adventure!  It's going to be a lot of work, but honestly, I'm kind of looking forward to learning from my dad (he's built dozens of houses over the past 30 years) how exactly to do this sort of thing.  He absolutely loves building, and although hard I think it's going to be a lot of fun.

Anyway, off to watch Glee!!  :)

Wow, three posts in one day! Oh well...

So, as some of you know, I am the BIGGEST hopeless romantic ever.  I just know that the perfect individual for me is out there somewhere, and that when we meet fireworks will go off in a magnanimous fashion.  :)  Anyway, in that spirit, and in a stupor of boredom while I was watching children, and in joy knowing that there is no schoolwork or anything hovering over my head, I had some fun on picnic this evening.  In honor of the other KW and all of my fellow hopeless romantics I hope you like it!

Commencement, The Beginning

Well, it was commencement today!!!  While I actually graduated back in December, the JC only has one Commencement Ceremony each academic year.  It was actually a pretty sweet day!

(By the way, this is the most picture rich post I've ever created, so my apologies, but at the same time, who cares!  Haha.)

This is me before the procession from the auditorium to the athletic center. (The gold cords are for graduating magna cum laude, the blue cords are for graduating as a service learning scholar, and the medal is for my service as a JC Ambassador.)

So, I actually really, really like all of the traditional ceremonial shiz associated with the commencement ceremony.  It's weird, but I really think it's cool.  I loved the procession, and being able to see all of my professors decked out in all of their Academic Regalia was way fun.

Me, my best friend Whit, and my best friend Davey during the Processional.

This is what it looked like from the head of the line.  The students all split in two lines and applaud the faculty while they march through us.  Later, the faculty split in two lines and applaud the students.

The head of the faculty line.

Two of the Theatre Professors marching.  Head of technical theatre on the left, and head of acting on the right.  They are seriously my favorites!

The Governor of Utah was the Commencement speaker this year, which was a real honor, and despite my worries, his speech wasn't boring at all!

Me and Whit after commencing and receiving our "degrees".
(The folder that your degree will one day go in...haha.)

Me, Fa'ah, Whit, and the other KW at the reception following graduation.

My Ambassador Family!  I'm going to miss all of these people sooooo much!!
(Not everyone was there for the picture...but here are part of us anyway.)

In a nutshell, Commencement was way, way fun!  I had a fabulous time walking with some of my best friends ever, and the feeling of happiness and accomplishment has been so intense.  I've been contemplating all the memories I have of my friends over the past two years at the Junior College, and I seriously feel so blessed.  My friend Nick was co-Valedictorian, and his speech was funny.  The governor delivered a very nice address discussing the future of Junior College, and it was very inspirational.  Even the speech from "President Wilford Woodruff" was good.  ;)
After the reception in the student center I went to lunch with the family, and it was just overall a fabulous day.

The past year has been sooooo amazing!  It is really crazy to look back and see how much you have grown over a year.  One year ago I had no intention of graduating this spring, and I had no intention of  being at the Junior College this year (and here I am planning to attend a third year...What the Crap!?  Haha.).  Life is very interesting, but I wouldn't have it any other way.  :)

Happy Birthday!

Even with all of the other crazy things going on today, I didn't think it would be right to not pay homage to my father without recognizing that today is his birthday!  Happy Birthday Dad!!  Although I hate to admit it, he's the big 5-0 this year...wowsa!

(This was my fathers first and only attempt at a "self portrait".)

I hope your day was everything you hoped for!
